 Crossville, TN – In one of the most talked-about moments of the night at XFA 01, fans at the National Guard Armory were treated to a powerful display of heart, grit, and mutual respect as independent fighter Gregory Jones, a lbk amputee in his late 30s, made his amateur boxing debut against fellow debutant Ron Cole, a 46 year old competitor training out of Iron Martial Arts.
Their bout, part of the amateur undercard on April 26, stood out not only for its action but for the remarkable story behind both men. Jones, fighting without a team affiliation, entered the ring with nothing but his will, skill, and determination. Cole, representing a respected regional gym and bringing years of martial arts training to the ring, matched Jones in both composure and sportsmanship.

 CROSSVILLE, TN — In a night filled with excitement at XFA 01, one of the most memorable moments came from a grappling match that wasn’t even scheduled — until just minutes before showtime.
Originally, Crossville MMA’s Dylan Dhuivetter was set to face Jonah Covington, but Covington abruptly ghosted the promotion just days before the event, leaving Dhuivetter without an opponent. Still, in true warrior spirit, Dylan showed up at the National Guard Armory ready to compete — and more importantly, to support his Crossville MMA teammates.  Crossville, TN - In an exciting amateur exhibition match at XFA 01, Greg Brummett of London, Kentucky, representing London Martial Arts, made a strong entrance into the world of amateur boxing with a first-round TKO victory over Andrew Smyly of Marysville, Ohio, representing Killing Fields. Both fighters, competing in their 40s, showcased impressive heart and grit in front of an energized crowd at the National Guard Armory in Crossville, Tennessee.
For Brummett, this bout marked his boxing debut, and he made a statement by finishing the fight quickly and decisively. Smyly, who last competed at XFA Fight Night 2 — also in Crossville — entered the ring looking for redemption after a previous loss but unfortunately fell short once again. The weigh-ins featured a stacked lineup of both Mixed Martial Arts and Kickboxing bouts, showcasing top regional talent and some promising debuting athletes. The action takes place at the National Guard Armory and marks the first Xtreme Fighting Alliance (XFA) event of 2025 in Crossville, TN.
Originally slated to face Ron “Killing” Fields, RJ Hayes pulled from the card on Tuesday morning following a string of excuses and his refusal to submit mandatory bloodwork to the Tennessee Athletic Commission. With Hayes out, the XFA moved quickly to secure a worthy opponent for Fields. Enter Brandon Selvy.  CROSSVILLE, TN — The heavyweight division will take center stage on April 26th as Crossville MMA’s Jimmy Howe makes his highly anticipated amateur MMA debut against Josh Denham of London Martial Arts at XFA 01, held at the National Guard Armory in Crossville, TN.
Jimmy Howe, a native of Crossville, will be stepping into the cage for the very first time. With no previous combat sports experience, he enters as a true newcomer. But with the full backing of his home crowd and training out of Crossville MMA, Howe will look to make a memorable first impression under the bright lights in the XFA cage.  Ray Hewlett is set to make his long-awaited professional MMA debut on April 26th at XFA 01, where he’ll face veteran Brandon Grimmett in a flyweight bout. Fighting out of Knoxville Martial Arts Academy, Hewlett brings an 8-5 amateur record into the cage and is looking to make an immediate impact in the pro ranks. We caught up with him ahead of fight night to talk about the transition to professional MMA, his training, and what fans can expect when the cage door closes in Crossville, Tennessee:
XFA: Ray, first off—congrats on making the jump to the pro ranks. What does this moment mean to you? Hewlett: Thank you! It means everything to me. It’s the culmination of a ton of hard work and sacrifice. And I’m excited to show the world who Rocket Ray is. XFA: You went 8-5 as an amateur. What do you feel you learned during that time that’s going to serve you well as a professional? Hewlett: Honestly, I’ve learned so many lesson, I can’t even count them at this point. But I think the main thing is going to be how comfortable I am in there. I’ve already been to the cage 15 times. I’m not new to this. And I feel very at home in the there.  CROSSVILLE, TN — Xtreme Fighting Alliance (XFA) returns to action on April 26th with its first-ever pro/am event, XFA 01, live from Social Brew in Crossville, Tennessee. Among the featured matchups is an amateur kickboxing bout at a 165-pound catchweight between Jared Brown (1-2) of Crossville MMA and Elijah Lykes (Debut) of Knoxville Martial Arts Academy.
Jared Brown has been a mainstay in the XFA cage, with all three of his amateur fights taking place under the promotion’s banner. After dropping his first two outings, Brown broke through with a hard-earned split decision win last November, showing significant growth and composure under pressure. Fighting in front of his hometown crowd, the Crossville native looks to continue building momentum in his fourth appearance for XFA.  Two amateur combat sports athletes will be making their respective MMA debuts on April 26th in Crossville, TN at Social Brew as part of the amateur side of XFA 01 as Crossville MMA's Shawn Stockwell will be taking on Dickson, TN's Chester Hall in a Middleweight clash in the XFA cage!
Shawn Stockwell is an XFA veteran who made his amateur kickboxing debut on the very first XFA event in June of last year, with a 2nd round KO victory over Bobby Caudill when he was competing in the Heavyweight division. The victory was bitter sweet, as he did pick up a big win, but it came with an injury that kept him out of training for half a year. April 26th will see him compete in a different weight class and form of combat sports, but aiming for the same result as his first, fight with his hand raised. |
