![]() A rematch between two XFA Combat Jiu-Jitsu veterans will happen in February under Pancrase rules. Ed Lawrence and Chatt Lavender will meet in the XFA cage again February 15th at Nellie's in Harriman, TN, not in a Combat Jiu-Jitsu rematch, but in a Pancrase style match. The two competed against each other for the XFA Combat Jiu-Jitsu Light Heavyweight Championship on October 21st, 2024 in Crossville, TN at XFA Fight Night 2. Lavender won the bout via Decision and became the inaugural XFA Combat Jiu-Jitsu Light Heavyweight Champion. This meeting will also be in the Light Heavyweight divison, this time for the XFA Pancrase Light Heavyweight Championship.
Lavender and Lawrence are both longtime veterans of combat sports. Lavender in MMA and Lawrence in sport jiu-jitsu. This will be the first time competing for both athletes under pancrase rules. Their first match-up was a highly anticipated bout, but wasn't without controversy in Lawrence's eyes. Lavender won the meeting, but Lawrence felt some of the tactics used in the bout weren't very sportsman like with Lavender hitting a huge suplex in the match that slammed Lawrence on his head. Speaking with Lawrence he said, “All I can think of is the dirty trick from the last match. No more compassion. Human factor has been removed. This time will be different.” Lavender responded with saying “Last time was Level 2. This one will be maximum effort.” We look forward to this match-up on February 15th! XFA Fight Night 3 will be held on February 28th in Harriman, TN at Nellie's. Tickets are available now by clicking HERE
