Flyweight Fireworks Set for June 21: Dustin Pryor Looks to Rebound Against Debuting Jovani Barajas at XFA Fight Night 5

CROSSVILLE, TN – The Flyweight division is about to get a jolt of adrenaline on June 21st at XFA Fight Night 5, when Dustin Pryor (0-1) steps back into the cage with something to prove, facing off against Jovani Barajas, who will be making his highly anticipated amateur debut. The action goes down at the National Guard Armory in Crossville, TN, in what promises to be a fast-paced, high-energy scrap.

Pryor made his amateur debut on May 24th at XFA Fight Night 4 in Harriman, TN, but things didn’t go his way.  Matched up against Lavinceo Jackson at Featherweight, Pryor was caught by a devastating knee that ended the bout in the first round.  The loss hasn’t shaken Pryor’s confidence—instead, it’s fueled a change. He’s making a bold move, dropping two weight classes to compete at 125 pounds, a division he believes is a better fit for his frame, speed, and fighting style.

Standing across from him will be Jovani Barajas, a promising talent out of KMAA (Knoxville Martial Arts Academy). Barajas was originally slated to make his debut on the same night as Pryor, but his bout was scrapped at the last moment after his opponent, Joseph Franks, fell ill in the locker room.  Now, Jovani is eager to finally showcase his skills, and his team has high expectations for the young prospect.  His blend of striking fundamentals and a strong gym pedigree make him a legitimate threat in the flyweight division from the moment he enters the cage.

This bout represents a pivotal moment for both fighters—Pryor looking for redemption, and Barajas looking to make a statement.  With both athletes hungry for victory and eager to establish themselves on the XFA stage, fans can expect nothing less than fireworks.
