![]() HARRIMAN, TN -- Roane State Community College was buzzing this past weekend as XFA Fight Night 4 delivered another night of intense action, culminating in controversy during the co-main event of the preliminary card. In a bout for the XFA Amateur Lightweight Dirty Boxing Championship, Memento Combat Sports’ Zack Mitchell clashed with Killa Kickboxing’s Matt Luffman in a showdown that fans won't soon forget. Luffman entered the bout with a perfect 2-0 amateur kickboxing record, both wins under the XFA banner. Mitchell, making his XFA debut, brought with him a 1-0 record from a prior victory in a Redneck Brawl event and came in as something of an unknown commodity. Despite the difference in backgrounds, the two warriors met in the cage with equal tenacity and gave fans two rounds of non-stop, back-and-forth action. Both fighters had moments of success early, trading aggressive and fast, dirty boxing combinations, and relentless pressure in close quarters—the hallmark of the division. The first two rounds saw a near-even exchange, with Luffman pressing forward and Mitchell responding with powerful counters and dirty boxing inside close quarters.
The third round, however, would be the turning point. Mitchell landed a short left punch in close that dropped Luffman to the canvas. In a scramble that followed, Luffman appeared to instinctively shoot for a double-leg takedown as he returned to his feet. It was at that moment that the referee waved off the fight, awarding Mitchell the win via third-round TKO. The stoppage immediately drew heated reactions from the crowd. While Luffman did hit the canvas, he appeared to recover instantly, springing up in what seemed to be an attempt to secure a grappling position—an action illegal under dirty boxing rules, but more importantly, indicative of consciousness and awareness. From the referee’s vantage point, however, the combination of the knockdown and the unorthodox recovery motion may have suggested a fighter in distress. The result: Zack Mitchell is now the XFA Amateur Lightweight Dirty Boxing Champion with a 1-0 record, while Luffman suffers his first defeat in XFA competition. But the victory comes with a cloud of controversy, and fans, coaches, and insiders alike are already calling for an immediate rematch between the two. With unfinished business and high drama, this rivalry could very well become one of the most talked-about in XFA's growing Amateur Dirty Boxing division. The organization has yet to announce any official rematch plans, but the demand is undeniable—and growing by the hour. Expect fireworks when Mitchell vs. Luffman II takes place!
