No Contest Marks Wild Amateur Kickboxing Bout Between Gavin Scalf and Drevin Ashburn at XFA 01

Crossville, TN –  The National Guard Armory in Crossville, Tennessee, played host to an explosive night of combat action as XFA 01 kicked off the promotion's 2025 Crossville calendar. Among the evening's anticipated matchups was an amateur kickboxing bout between Gavin Scalf (0-1), fighting independently, and Drevin Ashburn, an independent debutant who also trains with UCMMA.

Scalf entered the bout with prior XFA experience, having made his debut at XFA Fight Night 3 in February where he dropped a hard-fought decision to Tyler McNabb. Hoping to bounce back, Scalf faced scrutiny early on after missing weight by over 10 pounds — a significant margin that added tension going into the fight.

Ashburn, making his first walk to the cage, wasted no time making an impression. Despite his inexperience, he came out with a flurry of explosive strikes that kept the pressure on Scalf from the opening bell. The action was intense and fast-paced, with both men eager to make their mark.

However, the bout came to an abrupt and unfortunate end when a front kick from Ashburn accidentally landed low, resulting in a groin strike that Scalf could not recover from within the allotted recovery time. Due to the accidental nature of the foul and the early stage of the fight, the contest was ruled a no contest.

While the result was inconclusive, both fighters showcased determination and grit in front of a packed crowd. XFA 01 marked the promotion’s return to Crossville for the first time in 2025, following two successful events in 2024. The evening further cemented XFA’s commitment to providing a platform for rising amateur talent across Tennessee and beyond.
