Crossville, TN —  The National Guard Armory was electric this past Saturday night as fight fans packed the venue for XFA 01, the first Xtreme Fighting Alliance event in Crossville this year and the third overall in the city. The spotlight was firmly on the main event—a highly anticipated return to the cage for Ron “Killing” Fields, who hadn’t competed in MMA in nearly eight years. And the veteran didn’t disappoint, delivering a highlight-reel knockout just 30 seconds into the first round.

Originally slated to face RJ Hayes in a professional bout, Fields was forced into a last-minute change after Hayes withdrew just four days before the event, citing a string of excuses that ultimately led to his removal from the card. With little time to spare, Brandon Selvy, a Street Beefs veteran making his MMA debut, stepped up on short notice. Due to the sudden change, the fight was reclassified as an exhibition match—but there was nothing exhibition-like about Fields’ performance.

Fighting in front of a hometown crowd in Crossville, where he now resides and serves as the head MMA coach at Crossville MMA, Fields wasted no time asserting his dominance. The Ohio native showed that age and time away hadn’t dulled his instincts, as he overwhelmed Selvy early with crisp striking and ruthless pressure before landing the decisive blow that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

The bout capped off a night of gritty competition and rising talent, further cementing XFA’s presence in Crossville. After hosting two successful events in the city in 2024, XFA 01 marked the organization’s first show in Crossville for 2025, and the crowd turnout proved the appetite for high-level MMA is growing strong in the Upper Cumberland.

As for Fields, his dominant return raises questions about what’s next—whether more fights lie ahead or if this was a one-time performance to remind everyone exactly who “Killing” Fields is. Either way, his knockout win will be talked about for months to come.

XFA is back. Crossville is ready. And Ron Fields is still a problem.
