Knoxville, TN – Xtreme Fighting Alliance (XFA) made history with its first-ever Pro/Am event at the Knoxville World’s Fair, showcasing a night of explosive action and memorable debuts. Among the standout moments was a colossal amateur super heavyweight clash between Kuzushi Club Dalton’s Tyler Cooper and independent fighter from Rockwood, TN, Adam Moreland. Both athletes were making their amateur MMA debuts, but they carried impressive credentials into the cage. Cooper entered with a perfect 6-0 record in boxing, while Moreland brought his size and local pride, weighing in at a massive 369.2 pounds against Cooper’s 346.8 pounds. The stage was set for a true super heavyweight showdown, and the crowd was electric with anticipation. The Fight
From the opening bell, Moreland charged forward with unrelenting aggression, immediately pushing the pace and backing Cooper toward the cage. In the initial exchange, Cooper appeared to injure his left ankle, limiting his mobility and forcing him to retreat under pressure. Seizing the opportunity, Moreland muscled Cooper against the cage and secured a single-leg takedown, planting the boxer-turned-MMA debutant on the canvas. Though Moreland maintained heavy control on top, the referee eventually reset the action due to a lack of advancement. Upon returning to the feet, it was clear that Cooper’s ankle injury was affecting him significantly. The referee quickly recognized the severity of the situation, observing Cooper limping noticeably. Out of concern for fighter safety, the official called a stop to the contest. The Result With the stoppage coming in the first round, Adam Moreland earned a TKO victory in his amateur debut, much to the delight of his hometown supporters from nearby Rockwood. Post-Fight Significance The bout highlighted the unpredictable nature of MMA, especially in the super heavyweight division, where sheer size and power can change a fight in an instant. While Cooper showed grit despite his injury, Moreland’s pressure and physicality ultimately secured him a victorious debut. As the XFA continues to build momentum following its inaugural Pro/Am event, both Moreland and Cooper have established themselves as names to watch in the super heavyweight ranks.
