Both competitors came out aggressive and ready for action. For Balser, this marked his competition debut, while Riddle was entering his second grappling match of the night—and of his career. Despite the experience gap, neither athlete showed hesitation as they locked up early in the bout.

The opening tie-up quickly escalated when Brett attempted a guillotine choke that didn’t land cleanly, putting him in a compromising position. However, he remained composed. From the bottom, Brett expertly recovered guard, maintained control, and wasted no time transitioning into a tight armbar. The submission was inescapable, and Riddle was forced to tap—securing Brett Balser’s first win in less than a minute.
