XFA BJJ 01: Williams vs. King Jr. Delivers Back-and-Forth War in Crossville Teen NoGi Thriller7/22/2025 CROSSVILLE, TN – July 11, 2025 — At the scenic Cumberland Mountain State Park, XFA BJJ 01 delivered an action-packed night of grappling, and one of the most technical teen NoGi matches of the evening came between Yard Call MMA’s Kyle Williams and War King MMA’s Wayne King Jr. Both young athletes wasted no time setting the tone, engaging immediately with aggressive collar ties in the center of the XFA cage. King Jr. pulled guard early, clearly looking to implement a bottom game strategy. Williams responded with speed, attempting a rapid pass and returning to his feet — a sequence that allowed King to hit a slick sweep. However, both competitors scrambled back to standing, where they resumed their battle for dominant grips. King Jr. pulled guard once more, but Williams was wise to it and maintained a strong base. A jump guillotine from King brought the match back to the ground, but Williams immediately passed to side control. King quickly recovered guard and locked in a tight triangle attempt, threatening to finish the bout. He compounded the submission with a kimura grip, creating a flurry of danger, but Williams showed calm under pressure and escaped.
As the regulation round wore on, Williams continued to win positional exchanges, eventually passing back to side control in the final moments. At the buzzer, the match stood razor-close — King clearly ahead in submission threats, while Williams had the edge in control and positional dominance. With the match still undecided, the bout went to a two-minute sudden death overtime. Overtime saw King Jr. once again pull guard and immediately attack with a deep armbar attempt that had the crowd on edge. Williams managed to survive the submission and transition into a sit-out side control, applying a modified arm-triangle. King defended well, but spent the majority of the round stuck in the hold, unable to create space or mount offense. After an incredibly close contest, the referee awarded the decision to Kyle Williams, whose pressure and positional control in overtime proved to be the difference. This battle was a showcase of high-level technique and composure from both teens, and a reminder of just how bright the future is in the XFA grappling ranks.
