![]() Harriman, TN — Roane State played host to another action-packed evening as Xtreme Fighting Alliance (XFA) Fight Night 4 delivered thrilling amateur MMA bouts, including a highly anticipated middleweight clash between Crossville MMA’s Shawn Stockwell and independent debutant Gage Holt. Stockwell entered the cage riding the momentum of a first-round finish from his debut at XFA 01 on April 26. All of his fights to date have taken place under the XFA banner, giving him the experience advantage over Holt, who was making both his MMA and XFA debut. The opening round saw both fighters start cautiously, with neither rushing into early exchanges. Once they did engage, Stockwell attempted a takedown but was reversed, with Holt capitalizing to land in full mount. From the top, Holt unleashed a barrage of punches, but Stockwell showed resilience and managed to return to his feet. Holt responded with another takedown, but this time Stockwell countered by initiating a leg lock attempt. Though unsuccessful, the effort allowed Holt to escape and return to the standing position.
Back on the feet, the fight evolved into a gritty, close-quarters brawl. Holt landed the majority of the damage during these exchanges, though Stockwell connected with several solid shots of his own. A failed takedown attempt from Holt late in the round allowed Stockwell to reverse position, take mount, and deliver heavy ground-and-pound strikes to close out the round. The first frame was competitive, with both fighters having their moments in what could easily be scored either way. Round two saw a tactical shift from Stockwell, who looked to use his reach and distance to keep the fight at range. Holt, showing early signs of fatigue, pressed forward and succeeded in dragging Stockwell back into the pocket, where he landed effective punches and muscled him against the cage. After a referee separation, Stockwell took control with crisp striking from the outside. A series of unanswered punches prompted the referee to step in, awarding Stockwell a standing TKO victory. With the win, Shawn Stockwell improves to 2-0, continuing his rise in the XFA amateur middleweight ranks. Despite the loss, Holt displayed promise and heart in his debut performance, showing flashes of potential in both grappling and striking exchanges. The bout added another layer of excitement to an already electric night at XFA Fight Night 4, further establishing the promotion as a proving ground for up-and-coming MMA talent across the Southeast.
